Metric: Presence/absence of regulatory requirements protecting workers (in addition to the Fair Work Act 2009) - an indication of whether workers are protected or potentially vulnerable. Indicates whether protections beyond standard employment laws exist to support worker welfare and safety.

Metric: Presence/absence of regulatory requirements in the fishery's jurisdiction aiming to mitigate bycatch, including the bycatch of protected species. Indicates whether fishery regulations require measures to reduce unintended catch of non-target or protected species.

Metric: Percentage of waters zoned explicitly for commercial fishing in the fishery jurisdiction (state/territory or Commonwealth) of operation. Measures the proportion of jurisdictional waters that are designated for commercial fishing activities.

Metric: Presence/absence of provisions to enable cultural and customary fishing in the form of exemptions from standard fishing rules or formal recognition of rights to access in fishery-specific legislation or in the legislation of the jurisdiction (state/territory or Commonwealth) in which the fishery operates. Indicates whether laws or policies formally recognize and support cultural and customary fishing practices.

Metric: Presence/absence of compliance regulations and penalties which apply to the fishery. Indicates whether rules and penalties are in place to ensure fishery regulations are followed.

Metric: Presence/absence of regulatory requirements in the fishery's jurisdiction related to the reporting of interactions with protected species. Indicates whether fishers must report interactions with protected species.

Metric: Presence/absence of food safety plan or system regarding the fishery that is compliant with the Primary Production and Processing (PPP) Standard for Seafood. Indicates whether the fishery operates under a recognised food safety management system.

Metric: Presence/absence of laws protecting fishery target species in the fishery jurisdiction (state/territory or Commonwealth) of operation. Indicates whether legislation provides protection for the welfare of the fishery's target species while being harvested and handled.
