Step 1: Determine the jurisdiction (state/territory/commonwealth) in which the fishery operates. Step 2: Search for provisions enabling customary or cultural fishing practices. Provisions could take the form of: - Exemptions from standard fishing rules (i.e. the removal of barriers) regarding gear, season, area, take limits, or size limits. - Rights to access fishery resources for customary or cultural fishing practices (e.g. Traditional Owners’ rights to access fishery resources) Search for the Presence/absence of any provisions in: - The fishery management plans, regulations, policies, or legislation - The fishery's jurisdiction primary fisheries legislation (search for any indication of head powers making these types of provisions which apply to all fisheries) Step 3: If provisions are found in either of the above sources, report "Presence" and the data's year of provenance and/or publication (for the most recent source) where available. Otherwise, report "Absence" and the year of data collection for the framework.
