- Statement
- Step 1: Determine the jurisdiction (state/territory/commonwealth) in which the fishery operates. Step 2: The collaborative Australian Protected Areas Database (CAPAD) provides the percentage of jurisdiction waters that are under some level of IUCN protection. Extract the values from the most recent available summary for the fishery's jurisdiction. In the spreadsheet for a given jurisdiction, navigate to the "IUCN Category" tab and record the value present in the "total" row of the column headed "% of [state/territory] waters". These data are known to be available (at least as recently as 2022, here: https://www.dcceew.gov.au/environment/land/nrs/science/capad/2022). Step 3: Report the percentage and the data’s year of provenance and/or publication where available.
