Raised features on the Australian continental shelf and Lord Howe Island shelf derived and aggregated from Australian Hydrographic Service's (AHS) depth area features in the 1 degree S57 file series [for NESP D3]

Raised features were derived by aggregating and dissolving the boundaries of the 1 degree S57 file series for the Australian continental shelf and Lord Howe Island shelf (200 m) depicting depth area features. An algorithm was applied to the data that isolated these features from surrounding lower features or plains.

Resource lineage

Statement
Depth areas features were extracted from S57, 1 degree tiles (343 of 542 available) that lie on the Australian continental shelf and Lord Howe Island shelf. These tiles were aggregated together and the associated boundaries dissolved to form two data products (one each for Aus continental and LHI shelf). From this aggregation, an isolating algorithm was applied to the depth area features that were above surrounding features and classed as raised features (e.g. reefs, shoals and banks).
