IND111 - Healthcheck: Target species stock status
Metric: Impact of the fishery on the target stock expressed through biological stock status (SAFS categories) of target species.
Measures the health of the fish population being targeted by the fishery. It uses scientific assessments (SAFS) to determine whether the stock is at a sustainable level, depleted, or recovering. This indicator shows whether current fishing pressure is allowing the population to remain healthy and productive over time.

- Step 1: Locate the most recent predefined target species list for the fishery from the fishery management website for each jurisdiction or other available source. Step 2: Obtain stock status classifications for each presented stock of the target species (e.g. from the SAFS website (fish.gov.au)) for the most recent available year. If stock status is unavailable for a target species, report "Data not found" for that species and the year of data collection for the framework. Step 3: Report the stock status for each target species fish stock and the data’s year of provenance and/or publication where available. Note: The stock status for ALL stocks of each target species is output using this method, not solely the stocks that are targeted by the fishery.
