IND143 - Healthcheck: Greenhouse gas emissions
Metric: Kilogram of scope 1 emissions per kilogram of fish landed. (kg CO2-e/kg fish).
Measures the amount of direct greenhouse gas emissions produced by fishing operations for each kilogram of fish brought to shore. This indicator shows the carbon efficiency of the fishery.

- Statement
- Step 1: Identify data sources for the amount of scope 1 carbon emissions released for a kilogram of seafood landed for the fishery. If no data sources are found, proceed to Step 2. Step 2: Determine the target fish species of the fishery present in the table available here: https://www.frdc.com.au/fish-vol-30-2/calculating-seafoods-carbon-footprint (noting that broad species groups are used). Extract the kg of CO2 per kg of fish landed from the table. Step 3: Report the amount of scope 1 emissions released per kilogram of seafood landed for the most recent available year and the data’s year of provenance and/or publication where available.
