Metric: Annual weight of all discarded and/or dead species (kg).
Measures the total weight of all fish and other marine species that are caught but returned to the water rather than kept. This indicator provides an overall measure of fishery discarding.

- Step 1: Search for the fishery's discard weights. If no discard data are available, report "Data not found" and the year of data collection for the framework. Step 2: Extract the fishery's total discard weight for the most recent available year. If discard weights are reported by species, sum the discard weights to obtain the total for the fishery. Step 3: Report the most recent annual total discard weight for the fishery and the data's year of provenance and/or publication where available.
